What is IP Address?

IP Address is also known as Internet Protocol Address. It is a logical and unique address assigned to each device connected to network that uses IP for communication.

What are the Types of IP Address?

There are two types of IP Address

  1. IPV4
  2. IPV6 
What is IPV4?
IPV4 also known as Internet Protocol Version 4.It has 32 bit address size and the limit of creating IP address of IPV4 is 4 billion. It supported Dotted decimal Notation:192.168.0.1

IPV4 has a packet size 576 bytes. In IPV4 security is less as compared to IPV6.
IPV4 support Multicast and Broadcast.

What is IPV6?
IPV6 also known as Internet Protocol Version 6.It has 128 bit address space and the limit of creating IP address of IPV6 is approximately 460 trillion. It supported Dotted Hexadecimal Notation:3FFE:F200:0234:AB00

IPV6 has a packet size 1280 bytes. In IPV6 security is more as compared to IPV4.
IPV6 support Multicast not a  Broadcast
